Brad P and The Son of Sam was envisioned as a concept album based on the life and crimes of David Berkowitz—aka. the Son of Sam—the serial killer who murdered 6 people over the course of a year and a half in 1970s New York, but the concept was quickly deemed much too restrictive.
Instead, this is a collection of Brad’s best songs yet; a kaleidoscopic exploration of genres united by his trademark detached irony; although about half of the songs retain to the original theme of death and destruction. That, and he plays childrens' parties!
The type on the cover was hand drawn in “blood,” while the back of the sleeve was typeset. The overall package feels gritty but composed; just like the music contained within.
